Heritage images & databases talk

On the 15 June, from 12-1pm in the Whare Wānanga on Level 2 at Auckland Central Library, there will be a talk by Heritage & Research staff on AL’s heritage photographic collections and online databases. More information about this talk.

West Auckland – the land of clay, Crown Lynn, kauri, cultural diversity, Corbans, wetas, wine, wilderness, sunsets, surf and the indomitable Westie. Join Robyn Mason, Team Leader of the West Auckland Research Centre to explore some of the heritage photographic collections and Local History Online database, which document the Western districts of Auckland.

Bruce Ringer from the South Auckland Research Centre will explore ten iconic photographs of South Auckland from the Footprints database.

Kirsty Webb from the North Auckland Research Centre will talk about some of the historic North Shore and Rodney images from the Heritage Images database. This database includes photographs and maps from the internationally recognised Sir George Grey Special Collections at Auckland Libraries. It also covers a wide range of topics including family history, portraits, architecture, advertising, photographers, maritime history, fashion, sports and the history of Auckland and New Zealand.
